NL: Horticoop to host vertical farming deep dive at Growy Amsterdam

Horticoop is an investment cooperative that believes progress comes from sharing knowledge. By looking at new developments in the horticultural sector together with its members and knowledge partners, Horticoop works toward a strong, future-ready industry while also identifying attractive investment opportunities. That's why the cooperative is hosting a deep-dive event on vertical farming on Wednesday, March 25, at Growy in Amsterdam.

Growy runs a 7,500 m² high-tech vertical farm where lettuce, herbs, and other leafy greens are grown in a fully automated process. Everything is handled on site, from sowing and growing to harvesting and packaging. The produce is supplied to supermarkets and restaurants across the Netherlands, making Growy a practical, real-world example of how vertical farming can work at scale.

Vertical farming is developing rapidly and is increasingly linked to themes such as food security, sustainability, and efficient use of space. During the meeting, participants will gain insight into the technological, economic, and agronomic aspects of this cultivation method. Contributions will come from Growy and Horticoop knowledge partner Wageningen University & Research (WUR). A key focus will be the role of vertical farming within Dutch horticulture and the extent to which traditional growers can benefit from these developments.

The afternoon combines knowledge sharing with hands-on experience. The program starts with a communal lunch, followed by presentations and discussion. The event concludes with an extensive guided tour of Growy's vertical farm, with ample opportunity for questions and exchange of ideas among members and experts.
