US (ID): Greenscale cuts ribbon on new Boise facility

Greenscale celebrated the official opening of its new indoor farm last week with a ribbon cutting alongside its construction partners and the Boise Metro Chamber. Customer delivery from the facility is now underway, marking the local company's transition from buildout to production.

"We started Greenscale because we want to create great food products," said Scott Meikle, Greenscale Founder and CEO. "By actively leveraging the symbiotic relationship between fish and plants, we let nature do what it does best — create healthy, nutrient-dense produce. Our ribbon cutting wasn't just about a building. It was about putting that system to work for real customers."

Much of the produce Americans eat today is grown in soil that has been farmed intensively for decades. Studies show that, over the past 70 years, nutrient levels in fruits and vegetables have significantly declined as soil quality has degraded. Greenscale aims to join the movement to change that.

Inside its Boise greenhouses, Greenscale grows produce using a system where fish and plants support each other. The tilapia fish naturally produce nutrients that circulate through the water feeding the plants. The system lets natural nutrient cycles drive plant growth — helping produce develop stronger nutritional profiles from the very beginning, with zero pesticides.

The Boise Metro Chamber joined the ribbon cutting celebration, highlighting Greenscale's role in advancing next-generation agriculture in the region.

"This facility reflects Boise's spirit of innovation," said Bobbi-Jo Meuleman President & CEO, Boise Metro Chamber. "Greenscale is demonstrating how science, nature, and disciplined execution can work together to create meaningful progress in how we grow food."

Greenscale's first packaged products are now reaching customers — marking the transition from development to full-scale operation. Up next, the company will soon release its multi-green powders, grown and produced in the Boise facility.

"We're excited to begin sharing the results of years of work with our community," Meikle said. "This is where learning accelerates — where we refine, grow, and continue pushing toward differentiated, exceptional food products."
