Mirai accelerates Asian expansion with four new partnerships

Mirai Group has signed Memorandums of Understanding with four companies across three Asian countries — Mongolia, Tajikistan, and the Philippines — between December 2025 and February 2026. These partnerships aim to introduce and operate fully artificial-light plant factory cultivation systems, along with providing operational and cultivation support.

Previously, MIRAI has delivered plant factory projects in five countries (seven companies, nine sites). In 2026, the company is aiming to further accelerate its global expansion.

In Tajikistan, discussions began in the spring of 2024 with ZIRA, part of Fifty Five Group, in Dushanbe. The company expressed interest in establishing the country's first commercial artificial-light plant factory model. The memorandum of understanding was officially signed on December 19, 2025, at the Tajikistan–Japan Business Forum held at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. The forum took place alongside the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue Summit on December 20 in Tokyo. Following the signing of the MOU, Mirai entered into a feasibility study consulting agreement and is currently providing comprehensive support. This includes candidate site layout proposals, production planning and workflow design, sanitary zoning planning, infrastructure reviews covering electricity, water, and CO₂, and business planning support. The team is also conducting water quality verification for cultivation equipment, assessing local electrical and plumbing conditions, and supporting market research for vegetable sales channels.

In Mongolia, Mirai is involved in two projects in Ulaanbaatar. The SHG project has been ongoing since 2023 and focuses on consulting support for factory relocation. This includes production planning, layout, and sanitary zoning design, HVAC and dehumidification simulation, and business plan development that incorporates yield performance data. In addition, Mirai is supporting a food-service startup project through consulting services for the installation of a small-scale plant factory. This work includes production simulation and evaluation of local infrastructure conditions to ensure stable operations.

In the Philippines, Mirai is supporting a company in Manila that aims to establish the country's first large-scale commercial plant factory. After signing an MOU, the project moved into the basic planning phase, where consulting support is currently underway. The planned cultivation will focus on leafy greens such as romaine lettuce, frill lettuce, arugula, basil, and baby leaf varieties. Equipment installation is scheduled for 2026 to 2027, after which factory operations and vegetable shipments are expected to begin.

Looking ahead, Mirai will continue developing talent and advancing technology through its Kashiwanoha facility, which serves as a hub for training the next generation of plant factory professionals.
