South Korean LED manufacturer ODYSSEYGLOBAL has developed a multi-wavelength LED lighting system designed to automatically adjust wavelengths, irradiation duration, and photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) according to crop growth, flowering, and fruiting stages, targeting the smart farm and plant factory sector.
The company, founded in January 2019 by CEO Jonghyun Jeong, holds proprietary technology for synthesising phosphor materials that emit specific wavelengths, paired with an ICT control system enabling remote crop management from a centralised platform in Korea.
"Our system automatically adjusts wavelengths, irradiation duration, and PPFD according to the crop's specific needs during growth, flowering, and fruiting," said Jeong. "By controlling far-red light according to growth stages, we can stably regulate stem elongation and flowering responses, while spectrum optimisation improves chlorophyll formation and photosynthetic efficiency, leading to increased biomass and uniform crop quality."
ODYSSEYGLOBAL reported revenue of KRW 3.4 billion in 2025, with $2 million in export sales, primarily through Amazon and Taobao marketplaces and direct buyers in China and the United States. The company has completed five national R&D projects over the past three years, with two currently ongoing.
