Recently, while passing through the first basement level of Daejeon Station on the Daejeon Urban Railway, one can encounter various crops such as chives, leeks, herbs, leafy greens, and mushrooms at a glance. A 'Green Farm' has been established in the heart of the station, where citizens' footsteps never cease.
Daejeon Transportation Corporation has transformed idle space in the first basement level of Daejeon Station into an urban smart farm called 'Daejeon Farm' and has begun full-scale operations.
Daejeon Farm is characterized by revitalizing previously unused vacant spaces within the station into a citizen-participatory smart agriculture platform. The facility, spanning approximately 199 square meters, is equipped with an ICT-based vertical farm system that automatically controls temperature, humidity, and lighting, enabling stable year-round production of leafy greens, herbs, and other crops.
Beyond being a simple production facility, its significance lies in serving as a participatory experiential space for citizens. Visitors can directly observe and experience advanced agricultural technology in the heart of the city, and plans are underway to expand operations linked to educational programs.
