ICA Kvantum Märsta has chosen Swegreen's in-store growing system. Swegreen's Saga Medium installation will be commissioned in spring 2026 and will produce same-day-fresh salads and herbs directly in-store, year-round. The investment gives the store local production with consistent quality, strong flavour, and a lower climate impact.

"When we laid out our strategy for our refresh and investment in fruit and vegetables, Swegreen's in-store growing became the obvious choice. Stable operation, high productivity and clear scalability mean we can take our investment further — while strengthening our offering with a climate-smart solution for our customers," says Conny Holmlund, retailer at ICA Kvantum Märsta.
"As more and more stores choose our technology as the next step in their development, we see a clear shift towards local production as an integrated part of the store's offering," says Anders Eriksson, CEO of Swegreen.

Sweden remains heavily dependent on vegetable imports, particularly in winter. With Swegreen's system, ICA Kvantum Märsta gains access to fresh vegetables year-round. The system eliminates transport, uses no pesticides, and reduces water consumption by up to 99% compared to traditional farming.
Swegreen sees a growing market for in-store growing as consumers demand sustainability, quality, and transparency. The technology can be integrated into grocery stores, hotels, larger workplaces, and municipal operations. "Just as bakeries became a natural part of the store environment, we now see how in-store grown vegetables are taking their place and changing perceptions of freshness, quality, and sustainability," says Anders Eriksson, CEO of Swegreen.
