Uzbekistan seeks to upgrade strawberry production with smart technology

Firmmit, a portfolio company of Big Bang Angels and an innovative K-smart farm firm, announced that it successfully held the 'AKIS Smart Farm Greenhouse Remodeling Project Demonstration and Completion Ceremony' in Uzbekistan, a key market for Central Asian agriculture. Currently, Firmmit is carrying out a smart farm modernization project covering 720 hectares (approximately 2.17 million pyeong) as part of a national project with the Uzbek government. With this event as a starting point, the company plans to strengthen its network with key local agricultural stakeholders and accelerate the local adoption of FIRMMIT smart farm solutions.

According to Permit, the event, held from the 25th to the 27th at the AKIS (Agricultural Knowledge Information Service Center) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, was attended by over 100 political and business figures from both countries, including Jamshid, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan; Hyun Mi-joo, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Uzbekistan; Jang Jeong-ryeol, Director of Central Asia at the Korea Rural Community Corporation; Shin Myeong-seop, Director of KOICA; Jarur, Vice President of Agrostar; and Park Seon-gi, Representative of Permit.

In particular, this demonstration was broadcast nationwide via Uzbekistan's local public television, firmly proving that Permit's smart farm technology has established itself as a key national project. At the event, the 'UZapp' technology (Uzbekistan Communication Optimization Solution), optimized for the local telecommunications environment, captivated the attention of the audience.

Permit unveiled demonstration data and operational results showing how it transformed neglected, aging greenhouses into high-efficiency smart farms at just 10% of the cost of new construction. Attendees personally verified the growth status of strawberries being successfully cultivated on-site, and as a result, Permit achieved the feat of signing remodeling contracts worth $300,000 USD per facility with Agrostar, a state agency in Uzbekistan.

In particular, starting with this project, Permit plans to 본격화 (intensify) its market entry in Uzbekistan by securing large-scale orders. With the successful completion of this turnkey system, the company aims to begin establishing a base hub in Central Asia next year.

Park Sun-ki, CEO of Permit, stated, "Key agricultural officials from Uzbekistan who attended this event showed a highly positive response to Permit's smart farm remodeling technology. We expect that the network built through these interactions will serve as a solid foundation to lead the expansion of smart farm adoption in Central Asia in the future." He added, "Based on our achievements in Uzbekistan, we will establish a K-agriculture hub and expand our influence in the global market."
