Fork Farms, a Green Bay-based vertical farming company has said to experience growth in vertical farming. Their hydroponic walls with fresh greens might have been noticed before at the Appleton International Airport. The company has more than 600 hydroponic installations and recently expanded into the overseas market.
Recently, Action 2 News sat down with Fork Farms' president, Alex Tyvink to talk about the industry and the company itself. They elaborated on the industry growth and on how vertical farming can make a difference in many communities.
"The product is now in 26 United States, Canada and we just had our first order from Israel. We're expanding into the international markets," says Alex. He said that Fork Farm's theory is 'everyone can be a farmer'. "For the food supply to be more sustainable and resilient, we need to engage many more people in agriculture. When engaging and its easy you build a deeper connection with fresh food. For us, we see that leads to healthier behavior, not because people want to but because people want to," adds Alex.
