Malaysia: New farm opening allows company to specifically target ASEAN market

Saturn Agtech has worked hard in optimizing its CEA system since 2018. "After 3 generations of system R&D, our latest Model 3 promises to modify the farming industry with its unmatched efficiency of more than 2,300 ton/ha/year, which is easily 20-30 times more efficient than the conventional farming, without using any pesticide and herbicide," said the Saturn Agtech team.

During the opening of Saturn's newest farm, HydroFresh, several parties were invited to see the newest addition to Johor's fresh produce industry. Johor is a city closely located to Singapore.

According to the company, the Model 3 system is modular and ultra-slim, using significantly lower energy and water. "The high output and low energy consumption of  Model 3 system allow us to further reduce the average selling price of our products. Thus, fulfilling our Hydrofresh brand logo of “you deserve the freshest and healthiest” for the mass market consumers instead of targeting only the high-end customers."

Saturn AgTech has said to deliver these while maintaining a healthy profit margin for the company. "Therefore, we can affirm that CEA can be a profitable business model, unlike many startups which are still struggling on making a profit and relying on external funding for survival."

With the approval of a farming license from the Singapore Food Agency, Saturn Agtech has reached another significant milestone of reaching the ASEAN ( the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) target market.

The company is planning to aggressively increase its production in JB and Singapore before moving into other states in Malaysia. They're also researching which markets to target within the ASEAN region by 2022.
