Sweden: New in-store vertical farming collaboration announced

Swegreen has launched new in-store farms in collaboration with Coop, a retail actor in the Nordics.

Nordic countries, and Sweden in particular, remain heavily dependent on vegetable imports, often from Southern and Central Europe or North Africa. Swegreen's on-site farming technology provides a scalable alternative - allowing fresh greens to be grown and harvested directly in-store year-round, day and day out.

"Our collaboration with Coop is a key milestone and only in its beginning. We have a clear vision of making Sweden more self-sufficient in leafy greens and herbs while reducing the sector's climate impact. With our technology, we can provide premium, fresher, and more sustainable greens—grown exactly where consumers need them. The potential for expansion is significant, both within grocery retail and other sectors for Swegreen," said Anders Eriksson, CEO, Swegreen.
