The key to avoiding salt buildup in a vertical farm

Salts in your nutrient solution play a critical role in the success of your hydroponic system. In this video, Karla Garcia, technical service specialist and consultant at Hort Americas, explains how electrical conductivity (EC) influences plant growth in controlled environment agriculture.

Because EC measures the amount of salt in your solution, it provides key insight into system balance. When salt levels climb too high, they can raise pH, disrupt nutrient uptake, and lead to deficiencies or toxicities that undermine crop performance.

Karla walks through why monitoring EC is so important and how understanding the link between salts, pH and plant health helps growers protect yields.
