Companies in protected horticulture keep getting larger, and that growth brings a need for higher-capacity systems to purify drain water and return water. Many growers already work with the P.O.E. system, and this technology is now available in an even more powerful version. "The P.O.E. 15 can purify nine cubic meters of drain or return water per hour," says Lies van Geest of Tuprotec.
Tuprotec is introducing this new P.O.E. system to the market together with ClearWater Tech. The unit is delivered fully assembled and removes bacteria, viruses, fungi, and residual substances from irrigation water.

Earlier versions of the system handled 4.8 cubic metres per hour, in the P.O.E. 10 model, and 6.1 cubic metres per hour in the P.O.E. 12. "The P.O.E. 15 was developed because growers simply needed a larger capacity. As operations expand, they produce more return water, which often forces them to install a second or even a third purification system," Lies explains.
In practice, growers prefer one larger installation rather than several smaller ones. "And now we can offer exactly that." The first five systems are headed to a poultry processing plant in Germany. "Within horticulture, one system is going to a young-plant nursery, also in Germany. Another unit is on its way to an herb propagator in Denmark."
ClearWater Tech developed the P.O.E. system, which disinfects water using ozone. "This newest high-capacity model operates at ten grams of ozone per hour," Lies says. Earlier versions produced 2.6 grams and 1.3 grams per hour. "The new model also includes a larger mixing tank and a larger reaction vessel, which support the increased purification capacity."
