Care for plants at the Volochysk Maxim Otinov Lyceum in Khmelnytskyi region is combined with entrepreneurship education. In March 2025, the institution joined the all-Ukrainian project "Smart City. Microgreens". This was reported by Suspilne.
"Students of different ages participate in this project. Each performs their task and knows how to work in a team," said biology teacher Oksana Voznyak, who is implementing the project. According to her, the project is active in 25 schools in Ukraine, two of which are in Khmelnytskyi region. The initiator is one of the Ukrainian agro-companies with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. They provided equipment and seeds.
"This is a so-called business constructor. It teaches children entrepreneurial skills. Because here children learn to grow plants, take care of them, manage their finances, and at the same time, know how to present themselves and their product," said Oksana Voznyak.
UV light is used for the plants, which enhances their growth. Microgreens, which have already grown, are cut and used in cooking. This greenery can be added to various dishes: salads, sandwiches.
