Malaysia: Rotary Club hands over fully operational hydroponic farm to care home, trains staff and residents

Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur City Centre (RCKLCC) has shown growing support for communities in need, via the handover of a fully operational hydroponic farm to Caring Home Kajang. The initiative, part of RCKLCC's commitment to "Service Above Self", aims to provide the residents with a reliable source of fresh, nutritious vegetables while promoting eco-friendly farming practices.

The hydroponic system was expected to help reduce food costs and improve the residents' diet quality, with the farm supplying up to 30% of the residents needs in a long-term sustainable way, the club said in a media statement.

"This project is more than just about growing vegetables – it's about growing hope, skills and sustainability," said RCKLCC president Ang Sheng Wen. "We believe this farm will not only nourish bodies but also inspire a greener future for our community."

The club said training had also been provided to the centre's staff and residents to ensure the farm's long-term success.
