April 3 and 4, Hamilton

NZ: 'Growing the Future Indoors' summit

If your work relates to glasshouses, hothouses, tunnel houses, indoor farming, vertical farming, or similar, read on! Interested parties are invited to the Growing the Future Indoors summit in Hamilton on April 3 & 4, 2023.

Where? Jet Park Hotel, Hamilton, New Zealand.

New Zealand agritech is hosting two days of events for companies, researchers, tech providers, and growers interested in everything to do with indoor growing – from smart monitoring technologies to innovation-driven approaches for vertical farming. They will bring a community of stakeholders together for the first New Zealand summit to explore the current and future opportunities, working through challenges and opportunities both here in New Zealand and internationally.

Speaker: Henry Gordon Smith, CEO of Agritecture, a consultancy company that's been consulting over 200 projects globally. Henry is a sustainability strategist focused on urban agriculture, water issues, and emerging technologies.

Visit Greengrower, a vertical farm based in Aotearoa, NZ, on Tuesday, April 4.

Greengrower has agreed to take the Growing the Future Indoors summit attendees on a short tour of their facility on Tuesday afternoon. Usually closed to visitors, this tour alone makes the summit a 'clear the schedule and get along' event - not to be repeated in the near future.

Agenda
On Day One, the current status and landscape of indoor growing will be explored. The event will be looking at gaining a better understanding of where the sector is currently at.

You'll have the opportunity to hear from leading New Zealand companies, government, investors, and more with perspectives from shade houses to fully controlled vertical farming and the technology and supply chains that support them.

On Day Two, the event will focus on how this rapidly evolving sector could go next and how it can be best supported. They will discuss future opportunities and the resources, including R&D, required for New Zealand to support a successful international industry.

What domestic opportunities could the sector explore? And what role could New Zealand's sector play in the development of new indoor growing technologies as the event looks for solutions to continue providing food security and diversity in an increasingly populated, climate-impacted world?
