Hydroponics farming research center launched in Roxas, Philippines

A center for modern farming has been launched here: the Indoor Hydroponics Farming Research Center at Doña Emeliana Alba Memorial School (DEAMS) in Barangay Pinaypayan Lanot.

Hydroponic farming is a method of growing plants using mineral nutrient solutions in water, without soil.

Mayor Ronnie Dadivas said indoor hydroponic farming is an alternative way of planting which can be adopted by households to ensuring food sustainability.

“Apart from nutritious food on the table, it can generate more income and help ensure adequate food supply in the city,” said Dadivas.

The Indoor Hydroponics Farming Research Center is a project of the Junior Chamber International spearheaded by United Nations Sustainable Development Council national deputy chairperson Ma. Katrina Carmina Anisco and JCI-Roxas Makawiwili president Joan Adonay.
