In the spirit of Earth Day, global logistics company DSV has offered a glimpse into how sustainability comes to life within its Singapore operations, and it starts with a rooftop harvest.
At DSV's Singapore office, Harvest Day at the company's Sky Garden was about more than simply picking vegetables. It was an opportunity for employees to roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty, and witness sustainability in action firsthand.
The Sky Garden Hydroponics Farm, powered by DSV's dedicated Green Finger team, brings smart urban farming directly into the workplace. Through automated irrigation, IoT monitoring of pH and nutrient levels, zero pesticide use, and a closed-loop water system, the farm makes sustainability something employees can see, feel, and actively participate in.

Designed with vertical towers to maximise space, airflow, and light, alongside Dutch bucket systems for larger plants, the farm serves as a practical demonstration of how agricultural innovation can be seamlessly integrated into everyday working life.
The most recent harvest yielded close to 50kg of fresh produce, including cherry tomatoes, kale, lettuce, spinach, and basil, a testament to what a committed team and thoughtful design can achieve in an urban office environment.
Perhaps most significantly, the harvest brought people together. Colleagues gathered to pick, learn, and connect, leaving not only with fresh produce but with new conversations and shared experiences that extended well beyond the farm itself.
