The Dual Draft Integrated Airflow System received a positive reception at the recent MJBizCon 2021, the largest cannabis and indoor cultivation tradeshow. Demoing their product for the first time at MJBizCon, the Dual Draft team set up a fully functional two-tiered system. It allowed conference attendees to view first-hand how the solution resolves microclimates and drainage issues with its fully integrated under canopy and over canopy airflow systems.
The patented Dual Draft system is a novel solution to microclimates and drainage issues inherent when cultivating in vertical racking systems. The system eliminates microclimates by delivering under canopy airflow through the trays. The Dual Draft can be installed on a single and multi-tiered racking system, and its proprietary technology ensures consistent air velocities (both under and over canopy) along the full duct run using industrial-grade fans within a proprietary fan box design.
The Dual Draft system drew praise from cultivators, facility managers, and industry leaders. Jamie Lewis, Chief Operating Officer at NEO Organics, said, “Finally, a company has developed a vertical airflow solution to deal with microclimates from within the canopy, not just around the perimeter.”
Brent VanZile, Director of Cultivation at Boro Farms, offers his evaluation of the Dual Draft system. “Dual Draft is a real opportunity to improve indoor air quality and plant performance for vertical farmers. As a grower who is using a multi-tier racking system, one of the biggest challenges you face is sufficient airflow within your canopy. HAF fans can burn plants that are too close, and overhead plenums or ducts do not penetrate far enough into the canopy. With a system that forces air up from beneath the canopy, I can get airflow where it actually counts.”
"Dual Draft can be installed on any of the leading roll-top benching or mobile rack manufacturers’ system," ensured the Dual Draft team with manufacturers in the vertical racking industry including GrowGlide, Innovative Grower Equipment, PIPP, and Montel.
Mark Doherty, former Executive Vice President of Operations for urban-gro, joined the Dual Draft team as an advisor and partner. According to Mark, his decision to support the launch of Dual Draft is aligned with his desire to help cultivators increase yield, quality, and consistency while reducing costs. Notes Doherty, “When I built my first commercial indoor farm in 2010, our vertical farm had issues with microclimates. In fact, many of my clients using racking systems have had to deal with microclimates. The Dual Draft system resolves microclimate and drainage issues within the vertical farming space. Their integrated solutions should be in every farm using racking systems to improve plant performance.”
Greg Panella, CEO and Founder of Integrated Hydro Solutions, appreciated the warm industry reception. “The cultivators and industry veterans that we spoke with were highly engaged and inquisitive of our solution. We are excited to provide the industry with new airflow and drainage options, providing solutions to existing pain points that cultivators face every day.”
